Instructions For Installing Replacement Putter Heads
1. Heat is the key element. You must heat the hozel of the putter (the portion of the head that the shaft is inserted to) to break the bond created by the epoxy adhesive used to secure the shaft to the head.
2. If you are removing a metal head like chrome or brass this step is very simple because you just use your source of heat on the hozel and test periodically (using vice grips to grasp the head as it will be VERY HOT) to see when the head starts to loosen up. If you are replacing a rubber or urethane head you must cut away the material surrounding the metal insert that forms the hozel in order to get heat directly to the hozel. DO NOT try to apply heat to the non-metal material surrounding the hozel as you will create fumes, odor, and smoke. We do not know that these by-products are toxic but we do not want to take any chances. As with metal heads always use vice grips to grasp the head when trying to work it loose from the shaft.
3. Once the old head has been removed allow plenty of time for it to cool before disposing in any container so as to prevent contact with any flammable material.
4. Before installing the new head be sure the tip end of shaft has been cleaned of any remaining epoxy residue. Then install the new head using a good epoxy adhesive. We sell an easy to use syringe style dispenser that dispenses the proper amount of each part of the epoxy mixture. Each syringe kit contains enough epoxy to install 60 heads.
5. Allow 24 hours curing time to be sure head is secure on shaft before putting club back into service.
Instructions for Installing Replacement Golf Grips
1. Cut the old grip completely from the shaft and clean the shaft of old tape or adhesive.
2. Measure length of grip and cut a strip of SGD Miracle Tape double that length. Center tape on top end of shaft and run it down both sides. Remove backing from tape.
3. Fill a clean, oil can with mineral spirits. ***The mineral spirits act as a lubricant, as it is activating the adhesive on the tape. It is essential that you squirt the mineral spirits on the shaft and in the grip and apply the grip within a very short time period. Be sure to use a liberal amount, to avoid creating a mess. Place a shallow pan under the end of the shaft to catch excess fluids.
4. Pour mineral spirits into the inside of the grip – empty excess on taped portion of shaft – quickly, slide the grip on the shaft.*** Wipe grip and shaft with clean rag.
